Weekly update from Ryan
In his latest weekly update at the support forum Ryan has a quick heads-up to share regarding current status of our upcoming new marketing site. The long story short is that it is currently in the development phase, and things seem to be going smoothly.
There is one part where we could really use your input, though: there is going to be a new section dedicated to highlighting the many features of ProcessWire, and though describing them is not an issue, we'd like to focus on what really matters to users.
I’ll be writing text to describe a dozen or more features in detail, but wanted to make sure I’m focused on those that are most interesting to our current and future users.
— Ryan
If you can share a moment of your time, it'd be awesome if you could provide some feedback on this. What is it that you find most useful or interesting in ProcessWire? What made you decide to give it a try in the first place? Let us know by posting a comment to the weekly update, or by commenting on this post at weekly.pw.
That's all for our core updates section this week. For more details, be sure to check out the weekly update from Ryan at the support forum. Thanks!
Weekly forum highlights, tutorials, and other online resources
For this week we've gathered a list of support forum highlights and other useful and hopefully interesting resources. As always, please let us know if there's anything important we've missed, so that we can include it in one of our future issues.
- To kick things off we've got some really useful recommendations for improving coding prompts with AI rules. Big thanks to especially gebeer and wbmnfktr for sharing their current rulesets and experiences!
- Next up we've got an interesting project from Sérgio Jardim: a PEST test suite for the Invoice site profile. You can read more about this project from this support forum thread. Splendid contribution from Sérgio, so big thanks to him as well!
- Another project that is not new — in fact it's a couple of years old — but has just been discussed on the forum is pw-tinymce-div-plugin. This tiny TinyMCE plugin (no pun intended) that can be used to wrap content with a
<div>
HTML element. It is also a great example of how easy it is to create plugins for TinyMCE, should you ever need one. Thanks to Christopher Wait for sharing! - Moving on to tutorial content, we've got a post from ukyo about implementing a browser sync or live reload feature for your site. This method very easy to get up and running, will update on either file or content changes, and requires just that you have Node.js and browsersync available.
- Additionally, for those who have access to the ProFields forum, i.e. have bought the license for the ProFields module bundle, ukyo has a shared handy method you can use to get Repeater Matrix items as WireArray.
- Xforum is a work in progress front-end forum system, recently posted via module development area of the support forum. We've not yet had a chance to test this one out, but it's there in case you want to give it a try.
- Finally, a little heads-up for those using ddev, or interested in checking it out: it has official instructions for getting started with ProcessWire. These instructions were contributed to ddev by Bernhard Baumrock.
If you're interested in ProcessWire news, discussions, and updates, there's always something going on at the support forum. Since we're only able to include a tiny selection of all that in our weekly updates, head down to the forum for more.
Site of the week: CECRI
Our latest site of the week belongs to CECRI — the Center of Excellence for Nursing Culture and Research, which is a project managed by the Order of Nursing Professions of Rome.
The goal of CECRI is to explore the world of nursing research, in order to improve citizen care and public perception of the profession in Italy. Their contributions include hundreds of research projects and articles, and more than five hundred researchers have taken part in these projects.
The CECRI website was created by TwoBeeSolution, and has been online for a while already — though that doesn't mean that it's dated; in fact it is a very nice looking website, with a clean design and a number of interesting features. Some of the details we particularly enjoyed were the detailed search and filtering features for news items and research projects.
As for some behind the scenes details, the front-end of this site appears to be built on top of the Bootstrap front-end framework, though with numerous customizations and additional utilities, including Animate On Scroll, moment.js, Owl Carousel, and jQuery plugins such as printThis and Waypoints. The site is multi-lingual (Italian and English), though majority of the content is currently only available in Italian.
Thanks to the team at TwoBeeSolution for sharing this project with us, and our congratulations to the client, CECRI, for their ProcessWire powered website!
