The 609th issue of ProcessWire Weekly brings in all the latest news from the ProcessWire community. Modules, sites, and more. Read on!
Welcome to the latest issue of ProcessWire Weekly! As we mentioned last week, this week there's a new stable version of ProcessWire available, though it is not as of this writing tagged yet; more about that in our weekly core updates section in just a bit.
In other news we're going to check out a new site profile for ProcessWire, the SMNV Media profile, created by Maxim Semenov. And, as always, we've got a new site of the week to highlight: this week that site belongs to the Swiss architects office Vuotovolume.
Thanks to all of our readers for being here with us again, and as always, any feedback is most welcome – please don't hesitate to drop us a line if there's anything in your mind you'd like to share with us. Enjoy our latest issue and have a great weekend!
Latest core updates: ProcessWire 3.0.255
In his latest weekly update Ryan talks a bit about the latest version of ProcessWire that has just been merged to the master branch, though left untagged for a little while still. This version, ProcessWire 3.0.255, will likely be tagged early next week (which might've already happened in case you're reading this post via the newsletter).
Main/master release status update
According to Ryan the next main/master version is still a work in progress, with some features being incomplete or yet to be added, but since we haven't had new issues in the dev branch, it's a good time to start bringing the updates to the master branch. A post covering the changes in this release is going to be up in a week or two as well.
This doesn’t mean that work on the next main/master version is complete. Just that no new issues have appeared that would warrant delaying it any longer. [...] I’ll compile and post a list of all that’s new in 3.0.255+ relative to 3.0.246 within the next week or two so stay tuned.
— Ryan
What's new in the core since last week
Here's a brief summary of what has changed in the core since last week. These updates are available via both GitHub branches, master and dev, as they are currently in sync:
- Fix for issue #2174, where core update #21 wasn't necessarily applied properly on the first attempt
- Minor updates for Konkat admin theme style, InputfieldTextTags, README file for ProcessWire, and the index.php file (last of which fixes some PHP 8.4 notices.)
- AdminThemeUikit now automatically selects the Konkat style for new ProcessWire installations (>= 8.1.2026) in case admin theme style has not been selected yet.
- ProcessWire installer lets you choose the admin theme style, Konkat or original.
- Support for setting custom [variables], available for all Selectors and PageFinder class instances.
Custom variable support is a brand-new feature, which Ryan will likely cover in a future post in more detail, but here's an example (adapted from the Selector class comments) of what this might look like in practice:
Selectors::setCustomVariableValue('foo', 'bar');
$pages->find("name=[foo]"); // finds pages with name=barThat's all for our core updates section this week. For more details, be sure to also check out the weekly update from Ryan at the processwire.com support forum. Thanks!
New site profile: SMNV Media
SMNV Media is a new site profile for ProcessWire, created by Maxim Semenov. In a nutshell this site profile is a full-featured media platform for hosting and managing image and video content. It comes with built-in integrations for Backblaze B2 (file storage) and Cloudflare (content delivery).

You can find a live demo of this site profile from media.smnv.org. This site profile consists of ProcessWire template files and other related features, as well as a few bundled modules (AddImageUrls, Dashboard, and FieldtypeFileB2).
Here's a list of key features from the modules directory entry:
- Video and photo galleries
- Author profiles and featured persons
- Categories, curated media collections, and video playlists
- Search feature
- Backblaze B2 and Cloudflare integrations
- Admin dashboard with analytics and quick access to functions
If you'd like to give this site profile a try, you can clone or download it from the site-media GitHub repository. In case you have questions or need additional support, head down to the FieldtypeFileB2 support forum thread, which also covers this site profile.
Big thanks to Maxim Semenov for creating this site profile and sharing it with the ProcessWire community!
Site of the week: vuotovolume Architekten
Our latest site of the week belongs to vuotovolume, which is an architects office based in Bern, Switzerland.
They are specialized in conversions and renovations, the preservation of historical monuments, and age-appropriate housing. Their services cover the full range from design to completion, and they offer all aspects of architectural services.
For us, architecture begins where people and space meet. We are interested in spaces that emerge between volumes. Empathy between clients and the surrounding environment helps us to design these spaces.
The vuotovolume website was created by Andrej Marffy Grafik & Webdesign, and features a very nice, rather minimalistic design, complete with gorgeous photography, plenty of quality content, and some nicely implemented transitions as a cherry on the cake. Content wise this site provides a proper introduction to the company, their team, and their history, features a sizeable collection of projects complete with descriptions and photographs, and of course contains their contact details.
As for some behind the scenes details, there's not a whole lot for us to say here, except that the front-end of this site is based on the ever so popular Uikit front-end framework. There are no signs of familiar non-core ProcessWire modules here, so what happens behind the scenes stays behind the scenes.
Our congratulations to the client, vuotovolume, for their ProcessWire powered website — as well as the developer and designer behind this project, Andrej Marffy, for a job well done. This is a splendid site for sure!
Stay tuned for our next issue
That's it for the 609th issue of ProcessWire Weekly. We'll be back with more news, updates, and content Saturday, 17th of January. As always, ProcessWire newsletter subscribers will get our updates a few days later.
Thanks for staying with us, once again. Hope you've had a great and productive week, and don't forget to check out the ProcessWire forums for more interesting topics. Until next week, happy hacking with ProcessWire!
