ProcessWire Weekly #634

The 634th issue of ProcessWire Weekly brings in all the latest news from the ProcessWire community. Modules, sites, and more. Read on!

Welcome to the latest issue of ProcessWire Weekly! In this week's issue we're going to share a quick sneak peek into the latest dev version of ProcessWire, 3.0.268, as well as some of the non-core modules from Ryan — namely ProCache and AgentTools.

In other news we're going to introduce a new third-party ProcessWire module created by Peter Knight: SeoNeo, a SEO and metadata coordinator built on top of native fields, offering an extensive list of features. And, as always, we've also got a new site of the week to highlight: this week that site belongs to Temelj za rast, a Montenegro based company offering various services and products for accommodation businesses.

Thanks to all of our readers for being here with us again, and as always, any feedback is most welcome – please don't hesitate to drop us a line if there's anything in your mind you'd like to share with us. Enjoy our latest issue and have a great weekend!

Latest core updates: ProcessWire 3.0.268

This week we have a new dev version of the core, 3.0.268, as well as a new weekly update from Ryan available via the support forum. Here are some highlights from this version:

  • Checkboxes for the Setup > Fields view, enabling bulk deletion or export of fields
  • New getRaw() and saveRaw() methods for WireCache (the $cache API variable)
  • PagesExportImport now supports exporting and importing $page->meta() data
  • WireTests test files and API.md docs for the rest of the core Inputfield modules

Additionally the AgentTools AI module from Ryan has received a pretty big update, which includes new MCP server support, new WireTests coverage, command-line safety and migration check improvements, and more. And, last but not least, there's also a new version of the Pro module ProCache, which now also has command-line support baked in.

That's all for our core updates section this week. For more details, be sure to check out the weekly update from Ryan at the processwire.com support forum. Thanks!

New module: SeoNeo

SeoNeo is a new third-party ProcessWire module created by Peter Knight. This module is a "SEO coordinator" — it uses native ProcessWire fields to store metadata, including data structures expected by search engines and social media platforms. The module makes all that configurable via field mapping and fallbacks, and provides both automatic and manual methods for injecting meta fields into your site's header area.

Modern SEO coordinator for ProcessWire. Uses native PW fields for meta tags, Open Graph, robots directives, canonical URLs, and more.

The full list of features provided by SeoNeo is quite extensive, but here are some highlights:

  • Uses native ProcessWire fields for data storage, as explained above
  • Has a real-time preview of how your page might look like on Google, and allows you to switch the preview instantly between mobile and desktop views
  • Has multilingual support, e.g. handles SEO data across multiple languages
  • Auto-field mapping connects existing content fields to SEO tags automatically
  • Manages Open Graph and Twitter Cards for better social media sharing

For more details, be sure to check out SeoNeo at the modules directory. The modules directory entry also provides instructions for those interested in migrating to SeoNeo from some of the popular alternatives, and outlines the full API of the module.

If you'd like to give this module a try, you can install it via the built-in modules manager in admin, or clone or download it from the SeoNeo GitHub repository. If you need additional assistance or have questions for the author, head down to the SeoNeo support forum thread.

Big thanks to Peter Knight for creating this module and sharing it with us!

Site of the week: Temelj za rast

Our latest site of the week belongs to Temelj za rast, a hospitality growth company headquartered at Budva, Montenegro. They help hospitality businesses increase their revenue and direct bookings by combining digital marketing with optimized booking systems and internal hotel operations, primarily focusing on hotels, luxury villas, resorts, apartment groups, and accommodation providers.

Temelj za rast builds the digital foundation behind stronger visibility, clearer guest trust, better conversion and calmer operations. One system connects website, SEO, content, PR, paid media, email, analytics and hospitality software.

The Temelj za rast website provides details about the company, introductions to their service offering and products, features a straightforward and quite informative pricing calculator, and even has a blog section. Overall, this is a comprehensive company website featuring a modern visual design and an excellent user interface; in other words a site that leaves a strong impression on potential customers.

As for some behind the scenes details, both the front-end and backend of this site appear to be largely custom-built; there are no familiar third-party modules here that we could spot, nor does the front-end utilize a familiar front-end framework. There are some custom modules though, including one for the support chat feature and one for caching assets, and it appears that bulk of the content is created using some sort of content block based builder.

Our congratulations to the client, Temelj za rast, for their new, ProcessWire powered website — as well as the team behind the site project at Leftfield for a job well done!
